Telephoning
Norwegian phone numbers consist of eight digits – no area codes exist.
Local calls cost NOK 2-3 from pay phones and hotel rooms. Long distance telephone cost in Norway is generally among the lowest in the world but varies with distance and time of day. Normal rate for calls to North America is NOK 1.70 per minute (2000). Rates are higher from hotels.
Europeans/Asians: Your GSM mobile telephone will normally automatically work as if you were back home. You will be able to receive as well as make calls.

The telephone company sell telephone card (TeleKort) at newsstands, post offices, major train stations, etc. Some public phones also accept major credit cards.
Internet cafes
Networld Internet Cafe
Their two cafes are located at the bus terminal next to the Central Railway Station (Oslo S) and at Gronland subway station (beneath Gronlands Torg). Both places have quick access to Internet and 25 fast computers to ensure quality time. They also provide scanning, printing and copying. They serve refreshing soda and coffee.

Gameworld
Gameworld are situated a 5-7 minutes walk east of the Royal Palace. Here you can surf the Internet on a very good connection (5,7 Mbit), and you have the possibility to print out documents both from the web and word processors. They served chilled soft drinks. Their opening hours are 11:00 am to 10:00 pm every day of the week.

Studenten Cafe

Opening hours: Mon - Sat 12:00 noon - 8:00 pm, Sun 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Deichmanske Bibliotek
Municipal library offering half an hour of Internet access free of charge.

Getting there: Take Akersgata from Karl Johans gate. By bus: Bus 37 stop at Apotekergata close to the library.

Call +47-22 03 29 00 in advance to book a computer. Deichmanske Bibliotek also has branches across the city with Internet access. The Majorstuen and Grunerlokka branches are also open on Sundays.

Norway’s post service is efficient by most standards. Opening hours are Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Sat 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Some city post offices have longer opening hours.
Letter rates from Norway are NOK 7 for Nordic countries, NOK 9 for Europe and NOK 10 outside Europe, for letters/cards weighing up to 20 grams (3/4 ounce).
Mail to Europe takes 2-3 days, to the US approximately 1 week.
